FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Poet, Songwriter turned Children’s Book Author introduces a Reading and Coloring Book. Just in time for the Holidays! KILLEEN, TX (December 14, 2017) - Parents and Educators, as well as literacy supporters are in for a treat with the launch of the new book, Honey in The Woods. Written by Miso Agogo, Honey in The Woods is a coloring story about a little girl who ventures into the woods and stumbles upon a small house nestled in the trees where she meets three bears. Honey in The Woods is a current depiction of a child’s curiosity while driving literacy by introducing elements like foreign language. The book is a beautiful and interactive mix of storytelling, coloring, vocabulary and Spanish. It touches on friendship and the affects of parenting dynamics. Like Miso, many parents, guardians, and educators understand the benefits of children learning a second language, but equally understand, “A pervasive lack of knowledge about foreign cultures and foreign languages threatens the security of the United States as well as its ability in the global marketplace to produce an informed citizenry. The U.S. education system has, in recent years, placed little value on speaking languages other than English or on understanding cultures other than one’s own.” (National Research Council 2007) Despite the, “…large body of research on the psychological well-being of children in single-mother families,” suggesting that children struggle with behavioral and emotional problems, Honey in The Woods paints a different picture. It points to love, lessons, and a healthy parent-child relationship. (Journal of Family Psychology, Single Mothers by Choice: Mother-Child Relationships and Children’s Psychological Adjustment, 2016) When asked her motivation for writing Honey in The Woods, Miso said, “I want to promote literacy by introducing new words and foreign language, while encouraging creativity.” Honey in The Woods is available in paperback for a retail price of $16.95 + Shipping.
